Social Worker (VISN Caregiver Support Program Coordinator)

These duties include, but not limited to the following:
Provides oversight of clinical and administrative work completed in the field to ensure appropriate levels of compliance. Works independently and creates strong working relationships with multiple disciplines, both clinical and non-clinical, to develop and provide training and education for the field. Monitors data to identify trends, strengths, and shortcomings of programs and takes appropriate action as necessary. Develops tracking systems to monitor data and compliance. Audits clinical records as necessary to ensure program efficiency. Utilizes and supports established information systems to track service activities including visits, referrals, patient demographics, and caregiver satisfaction. Monitors and improves patient flow to the program to allow for efficient scheduling process to assure access to care for the caregivers and Veterans we serve. Assesses the impact of proposed policies and program operations and reviews them for consistency with VHA's goals and objectives. Provides direction and oversight for the local Caregiver Support Coordinators of CSP in accomplishing their role by ongoing communication, site visits, and education and coordinates achievement-wide CSP performance targets using evidence-based practice to systematically influence of VISN improvements. Performs work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning, and assessment of various programs. Coordinates interdisciplinary staffing, work assignments, project budget, treatment services provided, and admission criteria for the assigned programs. Develops effective partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as non-governmental organizations. Attends meetings with VACO, VISN and facility level staff, being interviewed by the media, and providing briefings to Network and VACO program leadership. Serves as a subject matter expert and possess advanced knowledge and understanding of the services and benefits available for caregivers from both federal, state, and private sector resources. Investigates and resolves complaints from Veterans, family members, Congressionals, and VA staff about special population program issues facilitating successful and positive outcomes. Negotiates resolution of administrative and management problems with VISN leadership, VA Medical Center Directors and VACO program officials. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule:

Social Workers must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). Licensures or Certifications:
Social Workers must possess a current, full, active and unrestricted license or are you certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. NOTE:
Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. For grade levels above the full performance level, persons must be licensed or certified. Education:
Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to the CSWE website to verify if that social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a master of social work. Grade Determinations:
Social Worker Program Coordinators and Managers:
Experience, Education and Licensure. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator or manager must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level. Their experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. They may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Additionally, you will be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge and skill in management/administration, which includes supervision, consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet multiple deadlines, and evaluate assigned program area(s). Ability to provide training, orientation, consultation and guidance within clinical specialization of practice. References:

This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, and sitting. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment. In the performance of duties, the incumbent may be required to drive and/or ride in GSA-vehicles and travel to VISN sites by vehicle or commercial airline.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
